New Orleans made Tripadvisor’s 2023 ‘Best of The Best Food Destinations’ list! If you’ve never indulged in the southern, multi-cultural mix of delectability that New Orleans’ cuisine is, you’re just not living. New Orleans food consist of a blend of Cajun and Creole uniqueness you can only find in Louisiana. The dishes are inspired by Spanish, French, African and Native American recipes passed down over centuries.
New Orleans is a port city and as a result, most of our dishes start with a seafood or wild-game protein that’s marinated, then sautéed over the Holy Trinity. The Holy Trinity are three vegetables (celery, bell pepper and onion) that can make even a skunk taste delicious. Ask those boys down the bayou, if you think I’m lying.
New Orleans is not the place you’d come if you’re looking for fried chicken, mac n cheese, or smothered potatoes. Although, we do it pretty well, you’d have to go to Mississippi or Atlanta for that. Smart people visit New Orleans to introduce newness to their tastebuds.
