During the height of the pandemic, New Orleanians found a few things to keep our minds off the uncertainties taking place in the world and Married At First Sight New Orleans was a comforting treat. We enjoyed watching the couples fall in love AFTER committing for better or worse to one another. From free-spirited couple, Amelia and Bennet to hot and spicy Amani and Woody, MAFS New Orleans had a few tricks up its sleeves that we hadn’t seen in previous seasons.

A look into the origin of Karen and Miles

Karen and Miles signed up for the 11th season of Married At First Sight in search of love. Karen admitted to being exhausted in the dating arena and Miles was fresh out of a relationship. They both wanted to skip the dating phase and jump the broom.

In true New Orleans fashion, Miles’ information was ‘’accidentally’’ sent to one of Karen’s bridesmaids the night before the blind wedding was scheduled to take place. Of course, the ladies looked him up.

Karen didn’t beat around the bush about letting MASF producers know that she didn’t think Miles was a good fit for her. She said he seemed emotional and overshared on social media, and that he was not her type. Despite her lack of attraction, Karen moved forward with marrying Miles, but she didn’t hide how uncomfortable she felt with him in the beginning of their marriage.

Three years of love and romance or deception

As Decision Day got closer, MAFS New Orleans fans were sure Karen and Miles would abandon their marriage once the cameras stopped rolling, but they didn’t. On Decision Day the couple decided to remain married and combined their lives together in New Orleans.

Many speculated whether the union was genuine or if the two were clinging on for status. Since the 11th season of MAFS, the couple couldn’t seem to dodge the spotlight. Karen and Miles were booked on several engagements globally, including Black Love’s Couch Conversations featuring Tabitha and Chance Brown.

The couple’s appearance on the reality show attracted large social media followings, turning the Williams’ into influencers overnight. Karen showcases her cooking skills and Miles advocates for mental health.

Although they’ve been accused of being fake, Karen recently did an interview with Curate Women that revealed real emotions.

The breaking point

In an interview with Curate Women, Karen spoke about the persona the producers of MAFS narrated that influenced fans to view her as ‘’difficult.’’ explaining that scenes were edited to make her seem that way.

Rumors began to fly about Karen and Miles no longer being together when the two stopped posting each other on social media and started making solo public appearances. Miles confirmed being separated from Karen while on a panel during Essence Festival.

Miles has always been transparent about his mental struggles but In Karen’s Curate Women interview, she suggested that Miles’ mental state is his mildest issue.

It also seems that Miles made the decision to end the marriage. Through tears, Karen spoke about feeling abandoned and dealing with being told by the person she loved that they no longer wanted a romantic relationship.

While the world questioned Karen’s authenticity, it seems Karen is left wondering about Miles’ initial motive.

Karen recently published her first cookbook. We’re expecting the details of what transpired in the Williams’ marriage in a tell-all by Karen now that she has her author legs.

Walking away from someone you love is never easy. We’re sending Karen and Miles lots of love, and we hope they find peace and healing on their new journeys.

With love,

from New Orleans
