The New Orleans Saints welcomed Derek Carr to NFC South after a 7-10 season. Former Saints running back, Deuce McAllister calls Carr ”a good fit’ for the team, but he expressed concerns for the new quarterback. The seemingly perfect draft pick left McAllister wondering about the Saints’ plan to surround Carr with a proper team. The Saints could use a new tight end, receiver, and a back-up running back. The Saints current running back, Alvin Kamara, is dealing with legal issues off the field and a possible suspension is pending.

Derek’s Brother, David Carr Chimes in
David Carr, a former NFL quarterback, says the Saints made their intentions very clear in their pursuit of Derek. He said, ”as a NFL veteran you want to feel wanted and not like the last pick.” Derek Carr was also on the New York Jets and the Carolina Panthers radar however, both teams were weighing other options, but the Saint always new Derek was their guy. David told Harvester Podcast that the New Orleans QB is excited to run with the NCF South boys. His decision to join the Saints wasn’t only about the coaches determination to draft him. Saints head coach, Dennis Allen coached the Raiders in 2014 and gave Derek Carr his first job in the NFL. The New Orleans QB also has close relationships with current Saints players, and he’s looking forward to the indoors home field the Caesar’s Superdome will provide.
What’s in it for Derek Carr
The New Orleans Saints offered Derek an immediate 4 year contract. That length of a contract isn’t typical for a first year draft pick. Dereks contract is worth 150 million. He received 60 million at the signing of his contract.
We’re looking forward to seeing what our new quarterback will bring to the table. Welcome to the Saints, Derek!
