A Chi-town freak is making her way to New Orleans! Audaciously explicit, is how you’d describe the lyrics of this female rappers songs. Elizabeth Eden Harris, known by stage name Cuppcakke, will be performing at the Toulouse Theater on March 30.
Some may be surprised to see the CPR rapper on stage. In 2019, Cupcakke took to Twitter to emotionally announce her retirement. The rapper proclaimed her disappointment for seeing young girls sing along to her lyrics. Although tearful, Cupcakke disclosed that her announcement was not a stunt. Cupcakke felt she let her fans down for not being a positive role model.
The twitter rant may have not been for record streams, but Cupcakke came out of retirement 40 days later. Her tweet, “Jesus fasted for 40 days & so did I,’’ shared to her once deactivated Twitter account, alerted fans of her comeback.
What did appear to be a stunt for ticket sales was a 2020 diss track calling out some of the biggest rappers of the year. Over a 1999 50 Cent sample, Cupcake took shots at several rappers including Megan thee Stallion, City Girls, and Cardi B. The Deapthroat lyricist referrences Megan getting shot, and handing Cardi her old teeth back, insinuating a brawl. None of the rappers responded but fans reacted to a cringy line regarding Lizzo’s weight.
Cupcakke will be on stage with New Orleans-own DJ Legatron Prime.
